Precious Baby

Blubber baby

Crocodile

Weep your tears but do not cry

Do not feel the bitter ache

That tears ones soul and makes them shake

Pinch yourself and feel the pain?

Doesn’t reach you?

Try again

Bold exterior…conscience cold

The puerile product of a plastic mould

Bat your eyes and toss back your mane

Expect others to swoon when you call out their name

Heed not a thought for your karmic demise

Convey hateful disdain

With your slate-coloured eyes

Pout and sigh, create your soap-opera sagas

You can titter angelically

And earn star roles in self-created dramas

Oh My! But aren’t we talented?

I wonder,

Hidden, somewhere, beyond that superficial smile

Is there a mind that’s truly active?

Any thoughts that you might dare to claim as your alone?

Porcelain baby

Waxen doll

If tore off that mask would I reveal a soul?

A heart? A mind?

An airy void?

Tangible proof you’re somewhat less than surreal?

Precious baby

You make me sick

With your dredged up rumours and branding stick

So you broke a nail?

And your hair ends have split?

Do I look like I give a damn?

Inconscionable baby

Crawl back in your hole

Don’t re-emerge ‘till you discover a soul

A heart that beats with a steady hum

And blood that runs red instead of charcoal black lead

Come back when you learn what a true friendship begs

And are ready to offer more than useless dregs

When you’re able to see that blind adoration is not the key to happiness

And that being ‘yourself’

Is the only way to truly ‘be’

Until then, I beg you,

Stay far away from me

I’ll never place you on that pedestal you hold so dear

Or surround myself with those who fail to see beyond

The brand of clothes I wear

And the dense jock on my arm with the perfect hair

This is great. You give us a glimpse of the transparent. Those personalities belong in the soaps, they are so tiresome in reality. Of course I've never been a soap fan as they are rather trite and tiresome too. Polyester Pearls is quite a gem as well! Your work is very insightful.

What do you tell someone who has just reminded you, that you aren't here?
