When sleep's soft cloak evades me
When my eyes refuse to close
When sweet dreams will not take me
My mind casts about for reasons why
My love has turned away from me
My crime that has undone our love
My fatal flaw still eludes me
Why did we have to lose our way?
Why do we have to be so far apart?
Why can't you tell me what is wrong?
Why can't I ease your aching heart?
You told me I was the only one
You said we would never be apart
You told me that I must go away
You still own my old foolish heart
When I peer into the midnight of life
When I search for your spirit's light
When I try to make this puzzle whole
When can we try to make it right?
