When we first met
I thought you were an angel.
Your eyes were like windows
Your soul was so pure.
Your heart told stories
That lured me into
Consume all your tales.
As I would look into your eyes
You would take my breath away.
You would softly kiss me on the lips
And revive me, bringing me back to life.
I always wanted my hand in yours.
I knew you were my angel
When you would catch my eye.
Your hand brushing upon my face
Sweeping my blonde hair back.
When our lips would meet
My heart would stop.
You knew how to sweep me off my feet.
Now I’m holding your picture
Your smile so cold
Your eyes like stone.
Your heart I hope is shattered
Just like you shattered mine.
I thought you were my angel.
Now I’m asking myself
How was I too blind to see?
That all I ever was was a summertime fling?
I thought you really loved me……
I thought you were…..
I could have sworn you were……….
I felt like you were my angel.
