The Lane

The Lane

Let's start the ignition and proceed on a refrain

Driving on an open highway, that all familiar lane

Some things have changed, some things are the same

Some turnpikes are euphoric some brought some pain

My brain was in rush hour and injuries from a crash was sustained

You came back in the passenger seat to ride this with me

Been cruising this interstate alone, thought you would forget me

Forget the cruise control your hair blown with the wind

Your hand locked with mine what better place to be in

Higher than high gets we're like the captain and the pilot

Floating into a horizon of a sunset of fire and violet

Don't try to hide it, the way I made you feel

Our vivid mental album even melts my pride of steel

Concealed behind locked doors, now it's cracked, and I'm lured

To the precious treasures in my vault that I so adored

Into each other we poured all of the beautiful graphics

In a private gallery of some of our favorite classics

Some naked canvases we painted on and both mastered

It's so nice that we are on 95 north absolutely no traffic

Once again you and I no exits and no vehicular disaster

Faster ! Faster! Middle road with vigor we excel

Wish I could just hold your hand again, and once again gel

I’ve been so compelled with your spirit and your essence

In the seat next me sits only your ghostly presence

When use to ride together, those exits yes I dreaded

I put the pedal to the medal I run them over and dead them

Locked the door wandering thoughts, in I won't let them

I know they comfort me, on lonely night travels

I keep them close to me while I fight these battles

Sometimes certain journeys are made for one person

My crusade is so worth it, but baby I'm still hurting

Been thirsty your water, been thirsty for your food

Feel dehydrated the meals were not chewed

Some dreams of you are sacred some dreams of you are lewd

Seeing you after 7 months, yes I stayed somewhat subdued

...but the more we talk I felt renewed

Old feelings inevitable intrude, you know the ones that

that have you dwelling with 6's fraternal twin

In the clouds... that feeling can be a clear sunny day or shroud

It's the risk that we take, in the beginning we're all beguiled

Will you be there beside me through the obstacles and trials

When the road gets bumpy and treacherous, will you grasp my hand?

Or get in another drivers car? Will you desert or stand?

I had to be pulled aside and go through some things you might not understand

To fulfill a destiny and plan, you know the kind of man I am

For the land that's coming ahead a strong woman is needed

Don't need any spores on stony ground, but a root that's deep seeded

His Mercy endures forever, with the one HE chooses in a prophecy I witnessed the breeding

There is life that comes forth, when there is no more bleeding

You know I had the victory all along when I thought I was defeated?

Seated in high places, lord what in the hell have I been chasing?

Driving to catch that harvest moon, patiently waiting

Well here is your stop, as we sit and talk for a while

I sit here missing some of those memories that made us smile

I felt wanted our reunion to go on longer, what's right can seem so wrong

The thing about our moments is that they live, they're not gone

Nothing can separate us, no road blocks nor storm

Is your world in some chaos? Or is it really calm?

Well either way spiritually or physically I'm here to keep you warm

Just wonder if anything in your mind sparked

Talking about the night in the rain?

Oh well Tiff, the car door is still open...

It was nice driving with you down  The Lane.
