Promised-Land Inn Revisited

I know a place where the vacancy's high

at a boothe or the bar, a twinkle in your eye

Nobody knows or dares ask why

it's just better that way

Hansel and Grettle and Marlena the lost

cash in their chips and turn on the defrost

waiting for the boundaries that'll be crossed

so drink milk at least once a day

A mother watches the clock, asks where the time has gone

it seems like an hour ago she gave birth to her son

she'll be up and waiting with the morning sun

so dont waste her time

Cigarettes and caffeine, pills and alcohol

an addictive adoration thats bound to kill us all

wave goodbye and say you're sorry in your new southern drawl

and think of me as a nursery rhyme

Traveling circus men stay out of the bitter cold

while a curious janitor awaits another story told

and with an open door they claim the sick and old

but their true days have yet to begin

With the joining of a new friend ,the regulars' glasses rise

and another fortunes gone with the closing of their eyes

and unwillingly, they've cut all previous ties

but they're doing fine at Promised Land Inn
