Gone with the wind, are the days of my youth
Careless and free, in search for pure truth
Innocent and new, each day better than the last
But now as I look back, they all went by so fast
Each time I return to the town where i was raised
Another building down, another unfamiliar face
But for those that I know, I wonder do they feel the same
If they saw me in a crowd, I wonder would they know my name
The greatest pain of all, is that walk through a field of stone
And to sit and talk a while, to your friends who have gone on
The only thing that makes me smile, come the day I die
I hope to see each one and all, in that sweet by and by
