The Lonely Ones

These good times will leave us

and I'll search again

for the perfect home

whose only means of getting there

is the greyhound bus

The passengers whisper to you

or to their loved ones

And in front of you

the back of their heads

are translucent

They look so lovely

the opened doors

and the untouched ones

The portals that lead to pain

and memory and feeling

We've all been there

and we are the lonely ones

casting glances

and being careful

And we've all been listening

It's a common necessity

but a tragic one.
