The Race of Love.

They say you learn something new each day
What I've learned today, much to my dismay
Was simply that I don't have a clue.
What lead me to think that a lie was the truth?
I had a standard that was hard to meet
But the test of time brought me down to my knees.
I settled for less once again,
And I've only myself to blame.
I got lost in this race,
And stopped to take a break.
As I wasted time,
I was left behind.
And soon I began to realize,
That a delayed hope causes heart ache
But hope prevailed is always worth the wait.
So I picked myself up, and began to run
This race still isn't won, but I know it can be done.
You're worth it to me, and someday I'll see
Love in it's truest form, in it's truest beauty.
