On the New York City streets just miles from home
You can hear the sirens scream, a consistent reminder
That with the violent death of one homeless man, comes the rebirth of two more
But as long as I can hold onto my bed tonight, I’ll be alright
And in the back of that truck, I wonder what they’re selling to me,
Missing placebo, will it guide me free?
There must be some reason why life can only function through all this money
Oh but as long as I buy, I know, everything will be alright for me
Mothers cry, they contemplate why
The last words concerning their sons where written on a letter, overseas
Oh it read, “To Whom It May Concern, it wasn’t the brave one’s fault, the bomb just went off ...it wasn’t his fault”.
But as long as I’m safe here in my home, I know, everything will be alright for me
