The Thinning Ice

The ice got so thin, it slowly melted away

The only recollection of what happened to our yesterday

Are the precipitating thoughts, even loving memories

One day they’ll turn so grey they’ll be hidden within the trees

The weekends grew stronger and took up a life of their own

Luckiness grew to greed and eventually left of us here alone

We took the night for the best, for no more could we defend

The battle was lost; the night grew dark

Chills struck us through this trend

I picked up that photo and closely watched ahead

Perhaps hoping for your image to one day fade away

A broken heart of every penny spent, was it worth it in end?

Days go by now, what’s the difference between night?

Couldn’t we just go back and freeze the time

Before that first fight?, back to the time when we first met Before love, before regrets, before the ice got so thin
