Waking Up

Awoken at six,

Fifteen minutes under rain

Take the time to realize

That what I felt was pain

Fractured images fight their way

Through broken hearts and dreams

Look around, distorted lives

Nothing’s ever how it seems

The stretch of world peace is

Deflating by the hour

Everyone will talk of change

But tell me who’ the coward

Stroke the strings and play the anthem

To yet another day

Bench press all the wait you want

It won’t sustain a change

Bartender of human kindness

Says drink up another pint

Just as long as you’re too drunk

To open up your eyes

The perfection of your world is

Followed by your glitches

So take another shot and

Take it for what it is

One more day away

But what a waste

Look around again now

Will you ever leave this place?

Walk the streets again of yet another lonely road

Who would have thought this would unfold

(Who would have thought, who would of thought)
