   I'M DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY

It's enough to drive me insane.  Nothing but the plain.

No sound from the radio.  This is where I have to go.

   The radio has no sound.

I'm getting lost and will never be found.

It just goes on and on and on.

All night, the darkness to the dawn.

All day.  Straight all the way.

This never never ends.  I really want a friend.

I look out the window and I stare.

   Wide open spaces.

   Wide open places.

I must confide, that there's no where for me to hide.

   There's nothing to do.

There's nothing at all to view.

    There's nothing there.

There's nothing for me to see.

This sounds like the drive from Reno to Las Vegas or the other way around. Nothing but desert and open space. Driving, becomes almost hypnotic.
