Saviour

i just buried my saviour

didn't have use for him anymore

i just buried my saviour

underneath my kitchen floor

i thought he was dead

when i couldn't hear him breathing

so i put him deep within the grave

muffled the sound of his heart beating

couldn't cry

couldn't sleep

been lost

been numb

been more than a week

not sad

not shy

not afraid to admit i...

just buried my saviour

i knew he wasn't God

my excommunication

is a personal one

i've got no reasons

(justify my behaviour)

for in determined rebellion

i buried my saviour

Author's Notes/Comments:

Yet another old high-school poem; this one about casting aside religious teachings and moving on my own into the realm of spirituality. I remember thinking the wording in the poem was so controversial, I almost threw it away as soon as it was written!
