flattened tortoises that wander onto open road

only the long pavement leading me

Light and fast footsteps came running from behind me

and waving hands caught my eye,

a young man's voice called, "Stop,

I am here to take you down.

I lead the way.

All the way,

Unphased,  I was dreaming

I knew this
