I'm starting to understand that
Love isn't about jewelry.
It isn't about money, or
Tacky valentine candy.
It's about the small things
in this one life we have.
It's the sunset on the ripples,
Bright and ever-changing.
It's the purr of a kitten,
Nuzzled in the crook of your arm.
The color of your eyes,
Or how crooked your smile is.
It's understanding, and in return
Just accepting it for what it is.
Love comes, and love flows
Through time, faster with years.
And as our time nears an end,
We understand the simplicities.
That all it takes sometimes,
Is a smile, or a nod.
It's not always big or noticed,
But it's life-changing.
Like leaves in the wind,
we are carried by fate.
Love isn't about fancy dinners,
Or how big your diamond is.
It's about faith and trust,
and understanding.
It's looking into your eyes,
And already knowing.
Knowing that you understand,
Love is the small things in life.
I wish more people knew.
