To Keep You From Hearing

The silhouette of your body from the fire in the background
My hands trembled to lay you down on the rocks
Teeth grinding from times pace to take you and your guitar away
But my tapping foot let me keep my composure

Your black hair and gentle eyes have never matched before today
And you sing so carefully on the stump by the fire pit
The smile hiding behind my craved lips whispers
The lips stay locked to keep you from hearing

Would you sing me a song you wrote for me?
The paper covered in hearts and exclamtion points
I will refrain from making fun of you this time
I bet you never knew I truly thought it was cute

To be completely honest with you these hands are new to this
I have never felt this way from the pit of my stomach
Your silhouette leaves me whispering behind my teeth
And they still stay locked to keep you from hearing
