There is this drawer in my grandfathers office which was almost sacred for him, it was known by the rest of the family as the “diabetes drawer”. The reason being was that this drawer contained and still does the favorite brand of candy for my grandfather. You would always see my grandfather on family Sunday meetings sneaking into his office hiding from all of us and grabbing a candy called Tomy (a rum and butter flavored candy). He would never share this candy with anyone and if someone dared to grab some of his candy he would notice and leave a note begging to stop grabbing, i would always laugh at this because he confessed to us (his grandchildren) that he didn't liked this candy that much. He explained also to some of us that the reason he kept about 100 of this caramels in this cherished cabinet was to piss my grandma, because my grandma hated that he ate so much candy. He always enjoyed when she sermoned him about this “addiction”, he would get all serious when she was talking but the moment she turned around he turned around and sew us with a smirk on his face. I also talked to my grandma about this, she knew, she knew about my grandfather only doing this as a kind of game and the best thing was that she wasn't really bothered about my grandpas little game. She told me ever since she knew him my grandpa played this kind of “jokes” but this was the longer lasting one. The one thing that was always a mystery for all of us is that my grandpa stopped driving when i was about 9 years old and still, throughout the next 7 years (he passed away the year 2011) he was able to get a hold of this sweet. There were almost myths about how in the world he bought them without transportation and one of this myths was that one of his workers at home got them from them, the problem was that he (the worker) always denied this so we think they had kind of a secret between them. My grandpa was a routine guy, he had about 10 pairs of the same colored pants and only used gray and white shirts which he had about 15 of each and never left home with one of this Tomy candies in his pants, even though he never ate them. My grandpa’s office is still intact to this day, with his desk filled with papers and his drawer filled with candies.
