Touch That Dial

They caught me dozing off in the waiting room
Another flourescent fixture where you're made to sit
and decay with outdated magazines,
retro furniture,
and pamplets of other ailments you might be struck by
But mainly its just another hour Ill never get back
in this infinite wait paradime
There are six of us in this rotten room
Coughing, Bleeding, Scratching diseased areas
filling out paperwork
Real horror show

I apply another squirt of hand sanitizer as I make direct eye contact
with a man who seems to be leaking sinus fluid from all facial cavities
But between all other sounds to be heard here there is a ticking from a clock
too high up to smash
Good thing too as Im not the only one seeing red right now
Then in walks this marvelous mutated miscreant
Odd stares dont slow his pace one bit as he makes a B line for the front desk
His luck is far from fortunate.
He's fading in and out and in again
Like your favorite radio station in bad weather
or a bathroom attendant you can hardly notice
when youre shaking the last drops and staving off the goosebumps
The doctor licks his lips and he's handed a pen, a clipboard
and the same lie we've all been served:
"The doctor will be with you shortly"
What a bold faced subterfuge
He casually sits beside me to jot down his information
Between his intervals of heavy sighs and invisibility
I notice his 1950's-esque attire
Striped three piece suit with top hat to match
I peek at the paperwork
The name,"Kelly Cassidy" is scribbled in bright blue
Says he,"Fell out of the TV again" as his reason to be among us fine broken bastards
These daytime TV extras are always getting lost
As if barely being in the shot OR getting shot by infamous infallable antagonists
wasnt enough you would almost expect an escape at this point in the picture
Who wants to stick to that same old song and dance plus reruns to try and reboot?
Id like to high five this guy but Ill leave him be
Lord knows what he's thinking or what hes seen.
