Find someone young and attractive
Before you're old and disgusting,
Isn't that the drill?
That's what I was always told
When I was crawling
Stumbling
Failing at life,
Vanity takes center stage
And follows us hitherto
Wherever we go,
Mirrors are everywhere
And billboards wash the brains
Of others who disagree,
Our older selves might regret
Not making that connection
When the opportunity arose
Due to our eyes not liking
What the brain loved,
We'll all be old soon,
Weathered and drenched
In timelines
Wishing we could still bottle beauty
For our own selfish conclusions,
I've always focused on the brain
Rather than the body, myself,
Leading me into a contusion
But who am I to say what's what,
A subjective sentence
Follows a constant question mark
Skipping pages like smooth stones
in a creek where we were fantastic lovers
holding each others punctuation
on the tips of our tounge
