There's A Rodeo In Heaven

The gate was thrown wide open

and the cowboy strode inside-

hat in hand, buckle shined

and ready for the ride.

With a swagger in his step,

his boots never made a sound.

For though he seemed to walk,

his feet didn't touch the ground.

He got right down to business

and said, 'Let's put on a show!

The horses are saddled and ready,

so let's start this rodeo!'

CHORUS:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yeah, there's a rodeo in Heaven,
now that he got there
and he's just itchin' to ride again,
for eight seconds without a care.
Its always been his calling,
a drive, deep-set in his soul.
Now, he can ride forever,
in Heaven's Rodeo.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The chute was firmly latched,

till he gave the sign up high.

Now just sit back, enjoy,

and watch that cowboy fly!

He twists and turns with every kick,

rope gripped tightly in his hand.

The stallion bucks, but he remains seated,

and cheers rise up from the stands.

Till finally he hears that sound-

the ringing of the bell.

In triumph, he dismounts

and lets out a cowboy's yell.

CHORUS:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yeah, there's a rodeo in Heaven,
now that he got there
and he's just itchin' to ride again,
for eight seconds without a care.
Its always been his calling,
a drive, deep-set in his soul.
Now, he can ride forever,
in Heaven's Rodeo.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Heaven's forever changed now,

with angels in spurs and chaps.

Their halos can still be seen,

peeking from under their Stetson hats.

Their dressed in Wrangler jeans,

using words like Git and Y'all.

And every thing they say,

hangs on a western drawl.

The cowboy is in his glory,

doing what he's always loved.

He did it down on Earth

and now gets to do it, up above.

CHORUS:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yeah, there's a rodeo in Heaven,
now that he got there
and he's just itchin' to ride again,
for eight seconds without a care.
Its always been his calling,
a drive, deep-set in his soul.
Now, he can ride forever,
in Heaven's Rodeo.
Ya see, since he was a lad,
he felt it deep inside.
And though he passed from life,
that desire, never died...
