Nocturnal creature
of ebony night,
do you ever
miss daylight?
When we are sleeping,
you're wide awake.
When we rise, you sleep,
come each daybreak.
What mysteries of dark
hold your rapt attention?
That you view sunshine
with such apprehension?
What fear have you
that sets you apart?
That causes you slumber
before day's start?
By evening's moon
your ready to prowl,
on the backwards schedual
of a wise old owl.
