The stillness of the air,
gave way to a gentle breeze.
It rustled through the forest,
dancing in all the trees.
It made a soft sweet sound,
as through the woods it blowed.
Lifting the heads of birds,
and fawns with their little does.
As though the wind was speaking,
the animals listened intent.
It must have told a story,
for all their ears were bent.
Then the breeze just shifted,
and all was calm once more.
The birds continued their tasks,
the deer scourged the forest floor.
I wish I knew the story,
that was whispered by the wind.
For it seemed to bring a calm to the woods,
and the life it held within'.
