The Child Inside

Folder:
Rhyming Poetry

The child inside,

wants to play.

But the adult outside,

says "sorry, not today."

The child inside,

wants to sit in the sun,

but the adult outside,

says, "I gotta run."

The child inside,

wants to smile,

but the adult outside,

says,"maybe in awhile."

The child inside,

wants to be free.

But the adult outside,

says,"just let it be."

The child inside,

wants to sing a song.

but the adult outside,

says, "no, that's wrong."

The child inside,

longs to be let go.

But the adult outside,

always answers with, "no."

The child inside,

does as he's told.

Cause he knows the adult,

and watched him grow old.
