Down in the valley,
Where I used to play,
My greatest childhood memories,
Remain there to stay.
How I loved the nature and trees,
I would sit there for hours by the water,
Feeling ever so free.
Biking the trails, climbing the cliff's,
Chasing trickling water down the waterfall's edge.
Spotting the frogs, the turtles and deer,
Running from skunks and stinging wasps too,
Packing lunches with crackers, nuts and juice,
Sitting on rocks with my feet in the water.
Nothing was better then a book and a drink,
Laying by the creek falling asleep.
Not having to think about lifes worries or pains.
It was such a beautiful place!
The birds, flying over me,
The geese coming through every so often to eat.
But now it's being torn out,
The roots of my childhood memories...
Is being replaced with a highway,
So people with cars can save a few minutes.
What a waste, of a beautiful place,
A home for deer, fish, stray cats and bee's.
I walk by the valley, every so often,
I see rocks and trees getting broken.
It kills me inside, To see the creek and the valley going,
But what can I do? I tryed to show the world it's greatness,
Made petitions, Mailed the mayor,
Nothing I did helped this ugly matter.
All thats left of my childhood memories,
My getaway place, My 2nd home, My passion for life...
If a few strands of grass, and a bare field of no hope.
From now on, Theres no more creek, no more fish,
No more plesant trips to the only thing that made me happy..
that small chunk of land.
Now all my childhood memories will have to be kept on the back
of my hand.
So long to the birds, the fish, the deer..
Farewell to the tree's, the bushes and water.
Good bye to the valley, that I once knew.
A part of you, will always remain in me,
And same goes for you.
