The last sunrise
To meet our eyes
And yet, I slept late again today
Not believing
Knowing or grieving
That this is our final day
There'll be no sun tomorrow
The dew dries in the heat
Of rays that gently beat
Down upon a world without a care
But the magic warmth of noon
Falls to evening chill too soon
What will we do when it's no longer there
There'll be no warmth tomorrow
The final sunset
Though we don't know yet
How long tomorrow before we realise
No more sunshine thoughts inside us
Or flowers to bloom beside us
Or sun to travel slowly 'cross the skies
