Why can’t you be free?
I want you to take me.
Society has wrecked your mind,
That’s why it is hard to find.
Let me smash your chains,
Be freed from the reigns.
Be so much more,
Take the wind and soar.
Let everything collapse around you,
Behind it all lays a beautiful view.
Destroy your own normality,
Be rid its formality.
Think outside the box,
Release from the stocks.
Just live for the day,
No matter what they say.
Author's Notes/Comments:
Once again this should be with the other love poems but I think it has a message that can apply to a lot of people. Sometimes when I think about social constructs a bit too much I see how flawed and almost pointless they are, marriage, education and money.
But I see a point to marriage, sharing your life with someone you think is special must be wonderful and I really hope to have that someday, and hopefully we'll have kids and there's so much happiness marriage can lead to.
I also see a point to education, how are we to better our world if we don't understand it better? All education should be valued equally, the knowledge of how art is beautiful is important to the soul, while the knowledge of how to heal is important the body and knowledge itself is good for the mind.
But money is where I see a problem, it's just so unnatural, the idea that we trade pieces of metal and paper for things that should be valued as more important, but nobody says "I'm rich, I have food in my cupboards" They say "I'm rich, my bank is full". Seems wrong that something that has no real use except as a trade material should be thought of as more needed.
I've gone off topic perhaps, but all I mean is there a better things in life, nature itself is flipping beautiful, even a dreary day can make me feel happy.
