Sometimes when I am feeling so sad and lonely

The sounds of the night are all that keep me company



I remember when it was all so simple and clear

I loved you and thought it more true with each tear



I was waiting for the time when you'd catch me by surprise

And you'd be standing at my door wanting nothing more



Than to be by my side for the rest of all time

It's such a big gesture, I doubt it'll ever happen to me



I lie here and imagine your silhouette appear

Hope that you'll forget and forgive all my fears



But I blamed you and though you could have done more

I know I demanded much more than I deserved



It was unreal to think you would reach out your hand

So confused and alone is where I let you stand



When you wanted me by your side for the rest of all time

It was such a big gesture, I doubt it'll ever happen again
