Once, I was lost,

'til I found my way into your arms.

Once, I felt rejected,

'til you opened the door to your heart.



Once, I was used,

but my love was all you demanded.

Once, I couldn't believe,

but it's clear that from heaven you've landed.



Once, I felt abused,

but only for me would you raise a fist.

Once, I was distrusting,

'til I understood how honest love is.



Once, I was numb,

'til the touch of your hand sparked a new sensation.

Once, I felt purposeless,

but to express true love is my heart's elation.



Once, I was alone,

'til dreams of you took a lively form.

Once, I was melancholy,

now only for loneliness do I mourn.
