Halberry bushes
At the end of her yard
I would go no further
No closer than a berry
I filled my hat
And stood pondering
Fate and death
And love
And what the hell it all meant
Waving my hand i departed
Without any answers
Same as always
You gotta know
If you're going to
Ask impossible questions
Like why does the sun only kiss some
And why does god never speak
And why do halberrys taste so good
While you are waiting for love to happen
Do you really expect
A possible answer
I don't
I just hold up my cheek and listen intently
And stand at the end of her yard eating from her father's bushes
Maybe they'll come
Someday
I make it to town
And there she is
Walking home with her smile
Still in her posession
And heart unkillable
It would seem
She stops
Like she recognizes me
And asks if we've met
I get around i say
Then i hand her my hat
Still half full of her berries
It was nice meeting you i said
And it was
