Dear Mr. Pessimist

I got a chip on my shoulder

My world’s gettin’ colder

I’m tired of hearing “you can’t”

my soul sits and smolders.

I know I’m better than that,

listen closer I’m not missin’ lower,

I’m just liftin’ boulders

And you’re just wishin’

I would quit and reholster

No chance

I grow fast

blow past

while you’re movin’ like a slow dance

Master of my own fate

Carryin’ my own weight,

I’m sick and tired, of bein’ sick and tired

I don’t have the patience required

To contain this fire

You never believed in me!

I’m callin’ you a liar.

Everything that’s prior is behind me,

I’ll put aside the “might be”s and set my sights higher.

Conspire against me

Inspire the best in me

It’s the same thing

try to stop my ascent and see

That my sentencing demanded

My presence above where you landed

I’d say that I planned it

Except that I’d take credit for a divine hand and I’m not in the habit of quick grabbin’.

So one day when you look up

Expect to see my face and get shook up

Adios for now, mi amigo

Let’s part ways and see where we go.

Well written. I like your

Well written. I like your flow and rhyme. The title caught me too, I see myself as a pessimist and after reading this I'm reminded of that saying life's 10% what you're given and 90% how you respond to it. Keep up the good work.

Long days and pleasant nights
