My Name is Nurse

My name is nurse. I promise to always take the time to show you that I care. I'm here at your side, willing and able, to help you in any way I can. I'll do what it takes to ease the pain of body and mind.
I'll present myself always neat and clean. I'll tell who I am and what I'm about to do. So, whatever you want or need, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm only here for you. I'll hold your hand and I'll dry your tears. I'll even do my best to allay your fears.
I come to you with unity of mind and spirit. I'm ready to reassure you with sincerity that shows in all I do to help you feel secure.
Yes, my name is nurse, but by choice not by force. I'll do all I can to treat you as I would want to be treated. For I will always know that when I see you, I also see me. I'll remember too, my name is nurse.
I WAS A NURSE
By Brenda Boyte
September 7, 1999
My name use to be nurse, and I knew the game verse for verse.
Now I don't know what my name is - or what I will do,
I'll just try to make it through.
Since I can no longer be there, I don't know - now where?
Maybe before I leave this life I'll overcome the pain and strife.
I thought I would be able to make the last days of life easy for a few,
I just didn't know how far this would go.
Now I'm no longer a nurse, and I'll forget the game's verse.
