burning candles all around
lights dancing on the walls
watching the flame that consumes
wishing it would burn the pain
meditation, protection, fire,
inner peace, passion, air, and meditate
holding my hand over the flame
heat kissing my skin
pulling it back when i can not take the pain
only to try again
knowing i am real
that i control the pain
watching the flame
closer and closer till i move back
then a little closer with each time
the pain is mine
Of all your poems, this one---I am sorry to say---is the least attractive, because it seems to elevate pain to a value.
Starward
Of all your poems, this one - i am pleased to say - is the most attractive, as it elevates pain to the value that it is, to me anyway.
