When We Chugga-Lugga-Meet
Ridin down the track a-chugging
Came a train a-chugga -tugging,
Tugging home for me a daddy
Coming, chugging home – the lug –
Drugging and a-slugging home, fleeting home for me to meet;
Here he comes, the treaty lug – comin home on treaty feet.
Feet a-sore and tired plenty,
Brought a twenty (or a penny) found a-chugging
‘neath his seat, brought a pretty little penny when we fin-a-lly a-meet --
Found the money chugga-tugging,
Brought it home, the little lug!
“Here, yeh little caddy laddie!” said m’ slugga-chugging daddy, shrugga-tugga-hugging daddy.
“Pretty penny from m’ daddy!”
Said I sweet on tired feet,
“You’s a natty little laddie,” said the chugga-shrugging lug,
Comin homea- for a hugging, came along a-chugga chugging,
Came to see me, came to greet, pretty penny still a-tugging,
All to bring the pretty penny me to chugga-lugga-meet.
Took a beatin, tooken cheats, took a treat for when we meet –
Callin me a caddy laddie; he’s the beaten –cheated daddy!
Lookin for a bit o’ luck n’ all to come a-home a-tugging,
Tugging treats on tired feet!
He’s the one who came a-chugging,
Chugging and a-tugga slugging! Beggin-beggar-bum, the lug!
But I love the loony lug!
See he saved so we could meet!
Love he came a-slugga-chugging,
Down the track ca-chugged a-Daddy,
Chugged on totter-trainy feet,
‘sleep on chugga-lugga seats and a penny tugga-tugging.
So when tired pa, a-tugging,
Fell beside me like a lug,
It was sweet to rest his feet
When he meekly came to meet,
Money left a dent in Daddy,
Left a dent for he a-chugging, chugga-lugga chugga-lugga, chugga-lugga-chugging.
So we left a penny tugging, left it all to go a-chugging,
Me a-happy happy lug, me an’ shrugga-chugging Daddy,
Found ourself on flyin feet – when we chugga-lugga meet.
