Unfading Story
The Christmas story is forever new,
The Lord became a man for me and you,
Unfading story this, - forever fresh,
The Lord Almighty took on human flesh.
The flesh infirm of frail humanity
He took on in his great benignity,
To serve men as a brother and true friend,
He did from heaven willingly descend.
As shepherd steadfast, wakeful and supreme,
He leads the flock that hears and follows Him.
His heavenly kingdom He will share with those
That seek 'mongst thistles for the Sharon Rose.
As caring shipherd faithfully He leads
And gives His cherished flock all that it needs
He shields it from the darkness and the cold,
And brings the wayward back into the fold.
To the despised and outcasts He draws near,
And little ones and infants do not fear
The ruler of the All and the cosmos,
That smiles as a baby wrapped in swaddling cloth.
Beyond all human understanding t'is-
God as a man, to bring men joy and peace,
And in the crib in want and poverty
Does lie the Lord of Sempeternity.
He came to us the Lord Emanuel
To vanquish hades, death, sheol and hell,
To save and darkness to dispel,
Oh joyous, blessed glorious Noel !
