Divers Philosophies

So many creeds, faiths, and philosophies

With histories of philosophies to boot,-

Alive and thriving, but the question is

Are they not issued from  a common root?

Unequal, disproportionate the state,

The human lot, - the creaking wheel of fate,

That turns and crushes man while here on earth,

Helpless to chose the era of his birth.

I think all creeds are ruled by Providence,

It would not do if all the innocents

That lived according to the granted light

Where slighted and beatitude denied.

Redemption’s weal, I trust I will receive

Not by what OTHERS,- but what I believe!

This seems so true for everyone and all

That passes through this  vale terrestrial.

I trust that Providence can fit and square

And valid the most strange beliefs declare.

I trust that Divine Mercy will devise

These various creeds to blend and harmonize.

Though some feel lost, but Boundless Mercy may

For every erring vagrant find a way;-

May help gruff hobos see their Maker’s face,

While true-blue doctrine makers can't find space.

I cannot help it, but I trust my heart

More than the rhetorician’s skill and art;

These are my views, and you may disagree,

I do not mind, - it's MY philosophy.

"With Thee, 'tis one to behold and to pity. Accordingly, Thy mercy followeth every man so long as he liveth, whithersoever he goeth, even as Thy glance never quitteth any."

Nicolas de Cusa
