but if it´s any consolation, German is diametrically different from English. whatever does she mean? - well, let me explain: with English, you learn fast at the beginning, you can speak kinda English relatively quickly, but to learn it perfectly, to get all the nuances right, takes a loooooong, long time. with German it´s the other way around: it takes forever, before you feel you can put a few halfway intelligent sentences together, but once you´re over the hump, so to speak, it´s not that difficult.
