After seeing the movie "Wal-mart: The High Cost of Low Price" I believe that we should completely boycott Wal-mart until it is out of business. The reason I say so is because Wal-mart basically plays dirty with money without a care for the welfare of human beings.
Wal-mart creates jobs but displaces others is one reason why. For example, in the video the Hunter family's business in addition to other small businesses had to close down because of Wal-mart. In my opinion it's upsetting. People who built their businesses, their livelihoods, from honesty and hard work end up torn down by an economic behemoth. More importantly people lost their jobs. Seeing the Hunter family's business obliterated immediately turned me off in the movie. People like the Hunter family lost their jobs only to be replaced by Wal-mart employing employees who work for UNREASONABLE WAGES and BENEFITS found in the job market. Overall I think it would have a negative outlook for the economy in the years to come if smaller competing businesses are outdone by Wal-mart's monopolizing.
Another reason is Wal-mart doesn't care about the welfare of others. Security at Wal-mart is horrible, for instance. Many crimes are committed despite the posted security cameras, the patrolling around the parking lots, or any other means of security. To me, that's sad. I think there's no point in security in the first place if you don't PROTECT the customers properly. IT'S RIDICULOUS. It just shows how Wal-mart is only concerned with your business spending money at its stores but it ignores you outside its walls.
Another example I found is how some employees turn to the GOVERNMENT for health care. A successful business like Wal-mart is able to provide health care benefits to its employees if it cared about them. However Wal-mart doesn't.
I think it's a major responsiblity to deal with Wal-mart because to me it's basically an evil store. Many MISDEEDS and LOSSES come from a Wal-Mart. Even though Wal-mart may have a few positive results such as its low, affordable prices, its low morals and negative consequences outweigh its business as a retailer. Nothing truly good comes from a Wal-mart. It definitely needs to be boycotted. I never shopped a Wal-mart and after watching this video, it substantiates the reasons why I'll never shop a Wal-mart in my life.
"Behind every riches, there is a crime." Due to mal practice of malevolent organizations society suffers damages that jeopardise governments. Imagine under their very nose ills continue...
I totally agree with you and know first hand about the practices. My best college pal Elaine, before she died worked for Walmart in Ticonderoga NY and she was on third shift so she could be home with her school age boys during the day and evening when possible. Walmart demanded she go to second shift, take a cut in pay and if they needed her over shift to unload tractor trailers she was expected to do the same heavy lifting as the men. It was ridiculous and especially since she had health issues and they new it. Yes she also never had health benefits through them..
