Lately I see her on the corner
She seams to show her darker side
For no one ever seems to notice
Her elegant and stately, wavy strides.
Now she seems to fly on by
People just pass her on thier way
Never stoping to pay any respect
They won't even give her the time of day.
She used to stand so tall and proud
Her stripes hugging her wavy curves
Flying like the star she was
Treated with the respect she deserves
Loved by many and hated by some
She had the attention from nation to nation
Noone passed her by without looking twice
An image of right and good representation
Now she slouches in the back of their minds
They stand in her presence for duty alone
How can they be so ignorant
Such a blossom, in my eyes, rarely has shone
A new generation is coming up soon
Can we neglect to tell them the story
Of her majesty flapping in the wind
The beutiful gem that we call Old Glory
