In the center of everything yellow
Our bed is devoured by the rusty reds and cool blues
of too many pillows for two heads.
The coffee grinder whirls me to life
and I wait for you to bring me
my morning tea
Then I beg you to climb back into
Our jungle of blankets
So I can wrap you so tight
I'm certain you'll never escape the grip
of a chicken armed girl
and her teddy bear.
I like the smell of your neck
and the way all 5 of your
chest hairs
tickle my face.
And I like the way
you hold me like I'm cold and I need
the heat of your waist and thighs and toes.
My fortress of sheets and shams
is inpenetrable to your lusty fingers
and I snap at them playfully as
you demand a kiss
Today I am a queen
and I want you to make love to me
regally.
Run your lips from my hair to my knees
and I will perhaps grant you
my blessing.
Tomorrow I will be like a starved animal
Desperate for your sturdy hands
and hard jaw.
In the center of everything yellow
I want you to tell me which sunflower
has unfolded
In our garden the Summer is fading
But between the sheets
We have enough provisions to last us
Longer than the winter has snow
And the Sunflower has petals.
