Unknown words

If you hand me a weapon
Can I hand you a rose
Show me the edge
The balance between worlds
My mind lies
And my heart is afraid
Give me up
So I may be free

But freedom is a lie
Constructed by our mind
When our hearts become fragile
And we can no longer see
What is in front of our eyes

Author's Notes/Comments:

It's been a long time since I last posted a poem on here. I stopped for a while writing poetry, but it found it's way back into my life. Today I post for the first time in 10 years. And the reason is because I feel the need to share. Not because I think it is a wonderful piece of work, or it deserves any recognition. But because it spoke to me, it wrote itself, without me knowing what I was writing. I don't know what this poem means to me, it disturbs me. I look at it wondering what to change, what to make better but I can't bring myself to change a thing. Even though it's fragmented and I don't know what it's about. Maybe it will bring clarity to someone else.

Ten years away is a long time. Welcome back and keep writing. It's a good place to learn about yourself. And all of us here, have that same desire to share. Keep sharing.
