A shiny new movie camera I acquired
Brief sojourn to the Kumaon hills
Enough cash in wallet- cards to pay my bills
Long, comfortable railway train to Kathgodam
For my concrete cage back home I cared a damn
Winded up snaky hill roads to Nainital Lake
The sight - a feast for the mind to partake
Clean, clear blue lake, light blue the sky
The sight was such that I thought I could fly
Cottage atop the hill, comfy, cool and bright
I looked out of the window- savoured the air so light
There wasn't any way I could hold my delight
Picked out the movie cam to hold the view
Lofty pine trees................. beauty of nature !
Hope for life returned - I again looked to a future
Bounced around the hill town its beauty began to capture
The movie cam I patted lovingly strolling through untamed wild
Hiking through the hills, lush green bushes
Forgot all about the steamy smoking buses
My moviecam was happy! I was happier!!
Imprisoning the lovely scenery, mountains, greenery, birds, people
I fancied I saw a distant form resembling a church steeple
Wandered high up to Ranikhet Tourist Lodge
No way I could make myself nature dodge
Wild life sanctuary sans all glitter
Heavenly pine cones I percieved tha street to litter
If they were swept clean, would it be better?
I bent down in reverence- knelt, picked up a cone
The sun shone happily- i was in nature's home
Vagrant trees- tall, majestic, unkempt- yet pretty
Sights I tasted with pleasure & glimpsed into nature's kitty
Sad I became- the moviecam couldn't catch the scent
Of the pine trees, cones, fresh breeze- into the pictures they went!
