Fairy museum.

Fairy Museum.

I was invited by Her Majesty to visit the Fairy Museum.  This is indeed an honour as far as I know no Human has ever been invited before. I was advised to dress for a summer’s day as the museum has varying climates. I was to be part of a school class of young Fairies. Two of the Wise Old Fairy Teachers were to accompany us. The great day finally arrived and I quickly walked to the clearing by the old oak. The children with their teachers were waiting for me. Then the feeling again of travelling by magic through time and space caught me this time not unawares. A few seconds of our time but how many miles I would not even dare to guess.

Where we eventually landed I have no idea. I found myself in a large field with the two teachers and the Fairy children. The weather was warm and I was told to look for the flowers. My eyes soon became accustomed to the field and then I saw flower after flower not in beds but mixed as if a giant hand had thrown down the flower seeds. I saw buttercups, daisies, violets, in fact all of the flowers that one would find in any field somewhere in Great Britain. From the Fairies came cries of delight as they recognised flowers that they had learned to colour in the Fairy School. I must admit I was delighted no shelves of objects that one spends hours going around to see what was on show. This was nature pure.

We walked across the fields of wild flowers and I noticed that the temperature had changed we found ourselves in a hot steaming jungle. Orchids as far as the eyes could see not only Orchids but also Colibri birds and thousands of butterflies. All was so natural that I was pleased that I had only a pair of shorts and a tea shirt on. How long we were in the jungle studying the plants and orchids with many other flowers I do not know. Time seemed to stand still not only for me but also for the two teachers and all of the Fairies, We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I noticed that many of the Fairies were making notes of what we were seeing others painted pictures of the flowers in notebooks that they had brought with them.

Next came a desert with the Sun broiling down. I was pleased that I had put on my old Panama straw hat on my head. It helped to keep the Sun’s rays from my face. Here in this desert area were all kinds of cactus plants many of which were in flower. This I told myself was better than going on holiday. Here again in the skies were some of those magnificent birds the Condors and many other birds many of which I had not seen before. The temperature changed yet again now the air was thin and I realised that we were high up in some mountain range. Many of the flowers here I recognised; The Edelweiss was blooming as were the blue enzian flowers. Many mountain orchids were to be seen. The Fairies were busy filling their notebooks and I enjoyed one of the best holidays that I have ever been privileged to enjoy. I counted back we have seen a typical British countryside, a jungle, a desert and now the mountains. This is indeed a museum to be proud of and somehow I envied all of those Fairy children that would in future be shown this paradise. The last of our sightseeing took place in a clearing very similar to the clearing where the old oak tree stands. Everywhere one could see mushroom chairs and toadstool tables. Every table was filled with fairy cakes and drinks that I have not seen before. One chair was big enough for me to sit down to. I with the Fairy Children and the two teachers ate delicious Fairy cakes and drank what I can only call nectar.

Soon the feeling of travelling by magic came over me again and I with the Fairy children and the two teachers landed back in the clearing by the old oak. In my hand I held a leather bound book filled with pictures and photo’s of all that I had seen on this most unforgettable day. Bern
