Leprechaun Salesman.

Leprechaun Salesman.

Yesterday a leprechaun rang my front door bell.

It was obvious that he had something to sell.

Politely I invited him in to my old house,

I introduced him to my little family mouse.

It turned out he was selling off his gold.

I had a strange feeling and I went all cold.

He must be ill or desperate I thought,

him selling his gold for next to naught.

Five or more gold coins for a can of peas,

Sell it to me he said down on his bended knees.

Four gold coins for a small bag of rice,

I knew that this was not the right price.

He knows it seems how to find gold,

But the lack of food was making him old.

I told him that gold was of no use to me and mine,

We grew all our own food and that was just fine.

He was welcome to stay and be my guest.

I would serve him food only of the best.

This pleased the Leprechaun to stay with me,

My kindness was being put to the test you see.

He stayed with me for just one year and a day,

I took from him no gold I wanted no pay.

Then for his pocket a parchment he took,

told me to read it to have a good look.

This is to state that one Bernard Shaw,

Would from this day on never be poor,

Magic would see to all of his daily needs,

to compensate him for his many good deeds.

The Fairy Queen had signed it herself with magic ink,

I felt a big need in the wooden floor to sink.
