Fluffy Clouds.
A warm summers night with small fluffy clouds floating high in the sky, the clouds looked as if they were playing hide and seek with the bright full moon. One cloud covered the face of the moon to be blown gently away for the next cloud to hide the bright moonlight. It was a fascinating sight to watch some of the clouds tried their hardest to cover the bright stars glinting like diamonds high out in space. I must have sat for about two hours under the old oak tree watching this spectacle when I realised that I was not alone.
“Lovely evening Mr. Shaw,” said a well-known voice. It was Her Majesty Queen Feeanna, Queen of all the Fairies. I had not heard or seen her arrive and must admit I was so occupied watching the heavens and the fluffy clouds it was as if I was all alone in the world. Not any of the night birds were to be seen or heard not even the chirping of the grasshoppers disturbed the peace of this most wonderful evening. Her Majesty spoke again, “it would be nice to be sitting on one of those fluffy clouds sailing high in the night sky.”
Smiling I answered that I would love to be riding one of the fluffy clouds playing hide and seek with the moon and the stars. Taking my hand Her Majesty spoke some words in the old Fairy Language; I found myself high in the night sky riding one of the fluffy clouds. I thought that it would be a little wet sitting on a cloud as you know clouds are vaporised water, I was surprised the cloud was perfectly dry. Below me I saw small well-lit villages with very small cars driving along the roads. A very large area of lights came into view; I was riding the fluffy cloud over the City of London.
The stars at this height were so clear all shone with a brilliance that reminded me of sparkling Diamonds. No air pollution to mar my view. Her Majesty was just as thrilled as I was riding so high above the ground. One star was shining so bright that it’s twinkling was such that I had to take my eyes from it. Her Majesty spoke again, “Reach out Mr. Shaw and pluck that star from the heaven.” I found my arm and hand had taken on a movement of their own. My arm stretched and stretched until suddenly something hard and warm nestled in my tightly clutched fingers. My arm grew back to its normal size, Opening my tightly clutched hand I found a large diamond. The moon shone on the diamond and as I turned it this way and that the sparkling was something that I had never seen before.
Suddenly Her Majesty and I were sitting on the comfortable roots of the old oak tree. In my hand I had a very large diamond. Her Majesty then asked me if I was happy with such a precious stone. I answered quite truthfully, “Your Majesty this stone will give someone at some time more pleasure than I can tell but for myself I would rather that this diamond goes back to being a star shining high in the heavens so that all may have delight whenever they look up into a clear night sky.”
Her Majesty smiled and suddenly the diamond vanished from my hand and high in the night sky I saw a star twinkling with such a brilliance that I knew it was the diamond turned back into its former glory a bright shining star in the heavens high above for all to enjoy on a clear moonlit night. Bern.
