Ornamental Birds.
I have been given two bird’s just ornaments to make the living room a little brighter. I was watching television with a few of my Fairy friends when the two ornaments started chirping away. I thought that the Fairies with a little magic had caused the birds to chirp. This was not so the Fairies were just as dumbfounded by the birds as I was. Later after the Fairies had left to go back to their thatched cottages the birds were still happily chirping away. Picking up one of the bird’s I examined it to see whether there was any kind of mechanism that caused the birds to chirp. I could not find any kind of mechanism and decided to ask my friend if the birds had chirped while they were with her.
The following day I went to my friend’s house and asked her if the birds had made any kind of noise while they were with her. My friend looked at me as if I was not quite right in the head. The birds were just two ornaments made of terracotta and were lifeless. Going back to my home I went into the woods of Fairyland and sat myself under the old oak tree. I had taken the two birds with me and placed them on the ground next to me. The chirping started off all over again. The wise old owl even flew down to see what kind of birds they were. The wise old owl then started speaking to me. “Can you understand what they are saying?” She said. I told her that I could only hear the chirping.
The wise old owl then translated the chirping so that I could understand what the two terracotta birds were saying. The wizard Mergoter had placed them under a spell because they had disturbed his sleep by their chirping. They would remain terracotta until someone took them in and gave them a home. This person must have a knowledge of magic to be able to turn the birds back from terracotta to two living birds. Then and only then would they be able to live again as normal birds. Going back home after thanking the wise old owl. I put the two birds on the place that I use to feed birds. Putting some breadcrumbs and small pieces of bacon rind with fresh water. I took a handful of magic dust and sprinkled the two birds. First nothing happened then both birds started to flap their wings. Both drank some of the fresh water. The food quickly disappeared down their throats. Their next move was to the birdbath. Both enjoyed the water splashing all over their bodies until all of their feathers were soaking wet. I then watched them as they put their feather back in order pulling the feathers one at a time through their beaks. I am happy to say the two birds are still with me and now my bird’s food table serves a couple of dozen birds. Later under the old oak tree the wise old owl called down to me from her perch high in the boughs of the oak tree to tell me that the two birds have asked her to thank me for saving them from their terrible fate. They are both so happy to be able to fly again. They still chirp away this does not disturb me. In fact I look forward to hearing them every day. Bern
