Mouse Attack.

Mouse Attack.

Mice are everywhere in Fairyland. We have been invaded by thousands of mice. No one knows where they have come from. They came overnight and are everywhere. The hungry marauders have eaten every thing eatable. Fairies are complaining that the mice even jump high to eat the Fairy Cakes that the Fairies magic whenever they are hungry. The Fairies are in a dilemma they cannot kill the mice and my suggestion of flooding the whole of Fairyland with cats just upset the Fairies. I told the Fairies to stay indoors for a few days; when nothing more is to be found to eat the mice will move on.

This was not to be for the mice increased and even the birds are complaining that mice are attacking their nests and eating the eggs even the fledglings are attacked by hungry mice. Something has to be done and done at speed the mice must be made to move on. The owls were in a very excitable mood there has never been so much fresh food to feed their young. But what can a dozen owls do against such an invasion? Not much I am afraid. Strangely enough none of the houses around Fairyland have mice trouble; possibly because most people own cats.

My main complaint is that even the clearing by the old oak tree is teeming with mice and I have taken to having my afternoon nap in my old wheelbarrow with its comfortable cushions in my own back garden. The one time that I went to the clearing and sat myself down on one of the inviting roots of the old oak. Mice ran all over me they had no shy for human beings and as they ran over me I shuddered and quickly got up and shaking the mice from my body I hurried back to my house. Once at home I stripped off all my clothes and stood under the shower for a quarter of an hour. I scrubbed my self with soap and plenty of hot water rinsed all of my experiences with the mice from out of my system. Putting on fresh clean clothes I felt a lot better and made myself a pot of hot sweet tea to get over the shock. The next morning the Fairies came to my house Justas I had finished breakfast. Excitedly they told me that all of the mice had gone not a mouse was to be seen in Fairyland.

It is a mystery that no one has been able to solve. Where did the mice come from and where did they go off to. I like to think that like the Lemmings they all rushed to the seaside and ran into the water. If they come to your area and eat all that they could find they will go off never to be seen again. Bern
