Animal Ban.
A Fairy through her own carelessness fell over a weasel and hurt her hands. Instead of apologising to the weasel she complained to all the Fairies that would listen and the Fairies used their magic wands to ban all animals from entering Fairyland. This was bad for the animals as over the years they had made pathways through Fairyland to get to where food was to be found. I first noticed that no animal were to be seen when the fox did not show up on one of its daily runs to see whether it could snap a nice fat hen from the Farm. The shy deer are nowhere to be seen as all of the other wild animals. The owl told me about the ban and that many of the wild animals now had to cross roadways to get to their food. One hedgehog had been run over and killed because of the Fairies ban.
I got the owl to pass on a message to the robins to call all of the Fairies to a meeting in the clearing; they the robins are well known for their gossip spreading and could not keep a secret if they tried. Soon all the Fairies were in the clearing. I spoke to them asking why they had used magic to ban all of the wild animals from using the age-old paths through Fairyland. It was now my turn to hear the different reasons why the animals had been banned. The animals deliberately trip the fairies as they work causing the Fairies to be off work for days. The animals make too much noise disturbing the Fairies at their work. The animals tread on the fresh flowers and the Fairies have to start work all over again. These and many more excuses as to why the animals have been banned from going through Fairyland.
Taking the magic wand that Queen Feeanna had given me I myself placed a ban no Fairy was to fly in or around Fairyland. In future all must walk to and from their working places. No more flying to the stream to have a drink of fresh water all Fairies must walk until the ban on the animals was lifted. This was something that the Fairies had not expected a ban on flying would affect them all it was much easier to fly everywhere than use their two legs. Some even laughed and said that in no way would the ban on the animals be lifted. I walked away from the clearing without looking back.
I did not go into Fairyland for one whole week I decided to let them the Fairies feel what it is like to be banned from doing something that comes naturally to a Fairy. One morning as I was finishing my breakfast a knocking on my back door interrupted me. I went to the door and opened it to see a bunch of Fairies all started talking at once. They had lifted the ban on the animals and wanted me to lift my ban on their no flying. I thought about it for a while and listened to the Fairies pleading with me to lift the ban. Taking my magic wand from my sleeve I waved it and watched as the fairies were covered in golden sparks. Suddenly they could all use their wings and thanking me they flew off into Fairyland. The wise old owl told me how the Fairies after only one day of walking everywhere lifted the ban on the wild animals now it was as it always was before the ban the fox is often to be seen, the shy deer are grazing peacefully in Fairyland and no ore hedgehogs have been killed by traffic on the roads. The Fairies had learned their lesson and all was back to normal in Fairyland. Bern
