Urgent Call for Mother Nature.
Four months without rain. All is dry the fields are brown. Where the ploughs have been used to turn the earth over to plant the spring seed clouds of dust rise under the Farmer’s feet. The deep wells are giving little or no water the ground water badly needs replenishing. In the mountains there is plenty of snow but until the snow melts the rivers will carry little or no water. Even the large rivers are just small streams where will it all end? Water supplies for the large towns and cities are carried from the mountains by pipelines at the moment there is no real shortage of water but if it does not rain soon. Who knows what will happen.
Even here in Fairyland we have had one day where it snowed that snow soon melted and we too have had no rain for months. The little folk are petitioning Her Majesty to have a word with Mother Nature. Her Majesty put through an urgent call to Mother Nature. Mother Nature sent back a message saying that she was very busy in Australia huge floods have turned the landscape into a water sodden mess. The wild animals are finding it difficult to reach a dry spot where they can graze. The flooding has caused much material damage. The Fairies would just have to have patience and wait for the weather to change.
Fairies are clever when it comes to improvising and soon all of the little folk were out early in the mornings collecting dewdrops from the plants, flowers and trees. Nothing was wasted. Enough drinking water was collected in this way. The water from the dewdrops were given to the small flowers the trees just had to rely on their deep roots to get water from the ground as had the bushes. It is a very hard time for all. The stream that runs through Fairyland is just a small runnel of water most of the small fishes have swum downstream where there is more water.
Most days of the week the Fairies are at my house listening to the radio or watching the television hoping that the weather forecasters will give news of approaching rain. Many use my buckets to carry buckets of water to some special plants of flower that they are tending. The Local Council have told the house owners that no one is to water their gardens with hosepipes. Things are very bad indeed for the local council to forbid the use of hosepipes. We are half way through the month of March and if it does not rain soon it will be a bad year for Farmers. The crops cannot grow without water. Another urgent call was put through to Mother Nature. Mother Nature had more than enough work to do and sent back this message. If you all ask for rain then do not blame me if the whole of the summer is rainy and wet. No more calls urgent or otherwise were sent to Mother Nature no one wanted a wet summer not even the Farmers. Crops need sunshine to ripen too much rain would be of no help to anyone. Not the fairies, not the Farmers and any other person or persons that are compelled to work outside in the summer. Bern
