Fox Trouble.

Fox Trouble.

I strolled along to my favourite place under the old oak tree in the clearing. The wise Old Owl greeted me and I made myself comfortable on the roots of the oak tree. It was not long before fairies came, somehow all was not well I could see by the Fairy faces that something was bothering them. It was not long before I was told that the Fairies were bored. They had finished their day’s work of colouring the flowers and bushes and of course the grass and weeds. From the corner of my eye I saw a rabbit nibbling at some fresh green grass. A thought popped into my head.

I smiled and told the Fairies that I had a plan that would definitely stop them from being bored. I suggested they organised a race, A Rabbit race. It was left to the Fairies to organise he Rabbits and get them to hopple as fast as they could to see which Rabbit and which Fairy would win this most unusual of races. To my delight the Fairies took from heir dress pockets small pipes. I had not seen these before and wondered what they were going to do with these pipes. Soon one, then the other gave long drawn out tones from their pipes and Rabbit after Rabbit appeared in the clearing. The Fairies whispered something into the ears of the Rabbits. I must admit the fairies soon were mounted each on the back of a Rabbit I was asked to start the race. I got up from my comfortable seat on the roots of the old oak tree. I raised my arm and dropped it. Off went the Rabbits with the Fairies hanging on to the Rabbits. One of the funniest things I have seen for a long time. I stood there laughing as I have not laughed for a long time. The Wise Old Owl perched on my shoulder and enjoyed this spectacle as we watched Rabbit after Rabbit reaching in their most comical hopping towards the winning post, which was an old elm tree full of ripe berries. Some of the Rabbits minds were not on the race and they stopped to nibble at some piece of greenery that tempted them not to take the race seriously.

The large amount of Rabbits was not unnoticed for soon a Fox was on their trail if it was not for the Fairies with their magic wands many a Rabbit would have made a good meal for the Fox and Its Family. This Rabbit racing did not last long and it was not long before the Fairies again came to me asking if I could give them some ideas of how to pass the time as they were so bored after finishing their work. I discarded many of my ideas. One I remember was paintbrushes and paints for the Fairies to paint pictures. This did not suit them as it reminded them of their daily work. I gave them Chess boards with Chess figures no this meant using their brains and it was not their idea of relaxing. Many of the human games I tried on them but all only lasted a few hours and was then abandoned. If you go on the Heath at Dartford and find tennis rackets or golf clubs and golf balls do not be worried no one has lost them, The Fairies have dumped them. Now I have a choir of Fairies that practice daily how long this will last I do not know as the Fairies are now trying to out sing the birds and as we all know this will never be so the birds have thousands of years experience and the Fairies. Well I will leave it up to you if you know of anything to take the boredom away from my fairies please let me know your scribbler from Graz, Bern.
