AS I SAT DOWN AT MY COMPUTER
ON THAT VERY FIRST DAY
I THOUGHT SO FORLORNLY
THERE IS JUST NO WAY
OK I LEARNED TO TURN IT ON
I'LL JUST PLAY SOLITARE
I CAN'T IMAGINE DOING MORE
THIS THINGS GOING NO WHERE
OH OK I CAN PRINT CARDS
AND PLAY SOME OTHER GAMES
MAYBE THIS THING ISN'T AS BAD
AS I DIDN'T FEEL THE SAME
OH YOU SAY INTERNET?
I SHOULD BE SO BOLD,
WHAT WOULD I DO WITH IT
ALL THE BAD THINGS I'VE BEEN TOLD!
OK ,I'LL TRY IT
YOU WANT ME TO CHAT?
COME ON THATS NASTY,
AND I'VE NOT COME TO THAT!
I'M NOT REALLY A SENIOR YET,
BUT I'M OLDER NOW, YOU SEE
SO I SEARCHED SO MANY CHAT ROOMS
AND THEN I FOUND BBB
I STARTED SLOW CAUSE I WASN'T SURE
JUST HOW TO ADD THE CHAT,
THEN EVERYONES SO FRIENDLY,
BEFORE LONG IT WAS OLD HAT.
I'VE MADE NEW FRIENDS FOREVER THERE
AS THEY ARE MAINLY IN UK,
AND I AM FROM OHIO,
BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER ANY WAY.
I COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY PC
THAT ONCE WAS A DARKENED BOX,
'CAUSE EVERY SINGLE DAY NOW
I HAVE TO SIT AND TALK!
This poem rocks. I can totally relate to it. Keep it up :)
Donna Hehe! How well do I know the feeling, I started with computers when it was just a word and it took me two week to discover that there should be a : behind the C - the good old days of MSDOS when Windows was still pieces of glass in a wall! Such a lovely poem! Regards Donkerman
Hi Another poem well penned down. It is very off putting when you first get a computer, seems like you have to be a professor to understand, but after spending alot of time on here it just all seems to come as second nature... and like you, I also have so many wonderful friends on the internet... so regardless of all those bad stories out there about being on the net.. who cares... friends are friends for life, no matter how we met or where we live. Thanks for sharing this one... enjoyed it heaps! Roz
